Dear Head Start Professional:

Creating a high quality, Head Start program of excellence is important to you, right?

You've no doubt looked around and seen other programs, other strategies being used that you'd like to implement, and maybe you know your program can be providing the highest quality services, with excellent staff -- sometimes it can look easy --

Well, we have some good news and bad news.  The good news is, you're right.  Every Head Start program in the nation can be providing services of the highest quality -- and can have staff with high performance and high morale, empowering families to rise to their potential.

"But here's the rub....creating excellence isn't about a few big things that
are carried out well in Head Start programs....
It's in how you TIE THOSE THINGS TOGETHER with all the little things
that create a Head Start Program of Excellence...."

We're sure you provide much to your staff, and you know the difference that investing in your staff, in a variety of ways, can make.  You also desire to do more.  Otherwise you wouldn't be reading this page.

You have to know what things make a difference....and do them WELL.

You've got to help your staff understand the 'big picture,' to help them develop a loyalty and commitment to the cause, to inspire them to rise to the level of excellence they are capable of rising to.  This isn't done quickly, it is "a process, not an event."

Sometimes you may find yourself....
  • Spinning your wheels...trying one thing after another with little success
  • Wasting valuable time and dollars on staff training, for little return
  • So caught up in the day-to-day needs that you can only attend to what speaks loudest
  • Wishing you could find things that would really make a difference

TRAINING WITHOUT TRAVEL is committed to
providing only the kind of training that makes a
real difference.   You are BUSY!  Your staff is busy.
You have families and community needs that demand your attention.  You have limited funds.  You have a million reasons why needed training and development activities are delayed.

Attention Head Start Directors, Professional Development Executives, Association Leaders & Head Start Stakeholders
Creating An Excellent Head Start
Program Is No Accident....
What is the purpose of the ON-DEMAND training?

Your Head Start budget is tight -- maybe tighter than it's ever been.  You have to pick and choose carefully where to invest your training dollars.  Training Without Travel provides great training for your program, but you don't have to waste money on gas, hotels, meals and incidental expenses, nor do you lose the 'down time' while staff are away.

This training helps programs update their own training and preparation to fit the current monitoring protocol as they prepare for self-assessment and federal monitoring reviews.

We also recognized that new staff in Head Start need to see the big picture of performance standards rather than a single session review.  As a result, PS 101 series was developed.

How many of my staff may participate in the training?

Multiple staff can view the courses after you purchase and download the recordings.   You will be viewing PowerPoint slides while listening to the recording.  Additional handouts are provided to support the training.

What are the system requirements?

Basically, you just need a computer, and access to the Internet initially to download the recordings and documents.  You will view PowerPoint slides for which we will provide narrative, and we will provide activities and resources you can download before each session.

There are no “bells and whistles” to our delivery.  We have carefully prepared materials that fit exactly to Head Start materials.  See the computer requirements.

How long does each session last?

Each recording is approximately one hour.  For PS 101 you can purchase the whole series or select individual modules. For Prep for Federal Monitoring, the sessions are available only in the entire series and contains 12 separate, approximately one-hour recordings.  When you view the recording, you may pause it at any time to have discussion in your group.

"The sessions have been very helpful and informative.  We are looking forward to more upcoming sessions!"
Santa Rosa County School District Milton, Florida
"Thank you. I look forward to the "on demand" training developing in the near future. The Performance Standards 101 would really be helpful for staff orientation, when new staff is hired. Also, as a refresher for seasoned staff. Sometimes we just have to go back to the basics (Training 101).

Thank you for everything. The staff found the webinars to be both informative and helpful!"

What is Training Without Travel?

Training without Travel provides training for Head Start programs across the USA.   All training sessions are provided by on-demand video, "without travel," to provide you  with the best possible training at the lowest possible cost.  The training involves a series of prerecorded video sessions based on the Head Start performance standards. It is provided in a series, rather than a single session workshop that contains too much information to absorb all at once.

Click on the link to the right to view a "preview" of on-demand classes. And download a printable brochure.

As a TRAINING WITHOUT TRAVEL participant, you will receive
High Quality Training with no Travel Costs plus many
value-added resources:

1.  Individual training sessions offered in a series: Each session is available 'on-demand,' which means you can purchase the session on line, directly connect to a link, and download the recording as well as all the handouts.

2.  Opportunities for small-group work:  Several times during each session, the facilitator will ask a question or give a quick activity for the participant group to discuss among themselves; often it is how a standard or procedure is carried out in your local program, or to brainstorm a possibility about something.  This enhances the learning experience through group interaction, reinforces the concepts the facilitator is presenting, and identifies how standards are met and exceeded "at home."

3.  Additional resources:  In addition to handouts of the PowerPoint presentation, you will also receive additional tools and resources to be used, as you desire, to enhance your local program.  These include self-studies, a user-friendly performance standards booklet, ideas for activities to be used with staff and parents, and more.

4.  Option to Individualize: In some cases, we can customize a webinar or on-site training for your program.  Simply contact us at info@trainingwithouttravel.net to discuss your needs.

5.  Certificate of completion: Included with your purchase is a downloadable certificate containing training information.  As you and/or your staff complete the training, you can keep sign-in sheets during the sessions, and attach to the certificate, and this should serve as adequate documentation for training for each individual staff person.
